Im a lifelong contact lens wearer and found that 1-800 contacts made it easy to renew my prescription by using their virtual eye exam. I work remotely and it made it easier.

How in gods name did I know that not only did my virtual prescription need to be renewed, but there was a discrepancy so the $123.96 order had to be deleted. There is a preauthorization hold on the money. The order was 1/18/24. Their customer service was stuck on wait no more than 10 days for the refund to my card.

I reached out multiple times and was assured that 2/1/24 was the day! Not only has the money still not been refunded, but they insisted I contact my card. I called them 2-3 times and was told to reach back out to 1-800 Contacts and have them fill out a form. Im not going to have them do anything more than the minimum theyve already done.

Now, the only thing I can do is to wait until 2/19/24 for the refund, but I wont believe it until I see it.

Im aware of holds that are placed, but Ive never had to wait 31 days for moneythe company canceled the order, not anyone else. Theyve shown me who they are by not communicating any of this beforehand. There is no information on their site for issues.

Ive gone to my old online store after going to an optometrist. This has been a nightmare

So after speaking with customer service it was brought to my attention that the company has no way of knowing if your prescription expires so they will continue to charge you $75 every 3 months and send you old contacts UNLESS you call them and tell them that your prescription is no longer VALID.

I did my contact lens exam with 1800 contacts. It said I completed the exam but I got an email from a rep named Joshua who said (after I already expressly acknowledged to him that my prescription from my prior contacts exam had gotten way worse and even provided him my current glasses prescription to compare) that it was SO odd how my vision fluctuated, implied I was squinting for the exam to impress my eye doctor, and that I needed to retake the exam. Fine. I retook it. Got no response from Joshua or anyone for the matter. I emailed Joshua and got no response. Whatever, I gave them leeway. Hey, maybe my scenario is SO foreign to them that they need 48 hours to examine my results instead of the "guaranteed" 24. Emailed Joshua again after 2 days--still no response. Called customer service the next morning (3rd day) just to be told that there's a note in my file that says the exam couldn't be completed. Like BRO, Joshua, JUST TELL ME your company couldn't pull through so I can make plans to get my contacts prescription and lenses elsewhere. Why would you ghost a paying customer after having received 2 emails inquiring about your overdue guarantee?? What a waste of time. And now I will not be able to see clearly for my law school graduation. Even a blanket statement of rejection would've sufficed. Instead, I was left waiting with 0 response that *** didn't work out, which was concluded internally 3 days ago, unbeknownst to me. Thanks, 1800contacts, and thank you in particular, Joshua. Irresponsibility at its finest.

Shipping

1800contacts is using DHL to ship your contacts. However DHL deliver’s them to your post office not your door. Now your post office must register them in sort and send back out. Much faster just ordering from your Doctor and picking them up.

Scammed

I've never even dealt with this business, yet this morning I woke up to two transactions on my credit card totaling A$1500+! 1800 contacts was in the transaction description for both of them.

This company should definitely be paying more attention to who they are charging. Maybe they have been hacked, or are themselves involved in some illicit activity. Luckily I reported the fraudulent transactions to my bank immediately and am told I'll get a full refund within a week.

I'd recommend steering clear of this company, why risk it? They clearly have some security issues which need to be dealt with ASAP.

Deceptive Return policy. A long time customer....no longer.

Its amazing how companies find ways to rip people off all the while acting as if they are giving you a fair deal. I’ve used 1 800 contacts for over a decade but not any more.

When you order, you save per lens if you order a year or 2 versus 3 or 6 months. Makes sense. And the company will assure you that if your prescription or brand changes you don’t need to worry because you can get a full credit for unused lenses. That’s not true as I learned today.

I had over a pack of unused lenses in a brand that I no longer use. That’s over a box of lenses and a box of theses sells for around $60.00. So I should be getting a credit of approximately $70.00. But when I called today, instead of the approximately $10.00 per lens, I should get, I would get about $2.50 per lens.

The sales person quickly rattled off the figures for the new lenses and the credit but I stopped her because it wasn’t making sense. When I asked her to explain, she told me that when I ordered the lenses I am returning, I only laid out a small amount of cash because at that time, I also traded back other lenses with a different Rx, and they based their “credit” on the cash laid out at the time. Well, yes I only paid that much cash because I was returning a bunch of lenses! In other words, you aren’t really getting a credit anywhere near of what you paid so that if your prescription changes or you want to change brands, you are not getting a full credit and actually losing a lot of money.

This is deceptive and I was really taken aback by this policy. Why would I send back 7 perfectly good lenses and only get a credit of $16.00? Just a very cursory look online showed me that their prices are not very good anymore, so that I would do better just throwing the old lenses in the garbage and shopping elsewhere.

Its sleazy what they are doing. Deceptive and probably illegal.

Thanks for the info I just ordered and actually found a lower price for my right lens and had to mention it to the rep it was a big difference so I got refunded but I should not have to tell them they should price compare and offer the same or lower rates at 1 800 contacts. I'm looking for a better option. Good luck

1800contacts suffers from poor management

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
To say 1800contacts has taken a few steps back of late would be a great understatement. Fact is, the company unfortunately been heading in that direction since the big market correction in 2006. Large corperations call it 'tightening margins' This author agrees with keeping the fat trimmed. unfortunatly again 1800contacts misses the mark by trimming that proverbial fat from the bottom up versus the top down. So many companies make this error. Stands to reason since its the upper that makes the decisions, it would be counter-intuitive to cut yourself. Problem is, the majority of the fat resides up there. my personal experience with 1800contacts spans over 20 years, so i feel well positioned to tell you to steer clear, at least for now. what was once considered leaders in customer service and expectations, is now more wolf in sheeps clothing. I was once a faithful customer. i have worn lenses for 34 years now, and i loved 1800contacts. My last and final experience was a few months ago. i ordered 2 boxes of lenses, one of each, recieved 2 right. No big deal right? I thought so too ,wrong. i wont bore you with all the ugly details, but suffice to say, they have held fast in thier stubborness to do the right thing. case and point, I spoke with 'supervisor' Nathan just today. He stated he was sorry for the trouble ive had, and wanted a opportunity to make things right. sure, with trepidation, i said. His solution? since the bank card i used for the original order is no longer in existance, all i needed to do was, wait for them to send a return package and ship the incorrect box back. Then they will refund the closed bank card. Now dont dispair, because in turn once the bank sends notice that the card was in fact cancelled, they can then issue a snail mail check. So you say, this seems like a hassle tit must be a big dollar order? $81.00 total order. then, why not just ship correct lenses right? they say rx was expired (although last 21 years this wasnt a issue when your giving them money, NEVER). In my research thus far,/my experiece seems uiversal, sad.

Torn Promises

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Company shipped wrong lenses. admitted the error, however cannot seem to locate willingness to resolve it. Has been over 6mos. !!! i called 16 times, sent 14 emails, to no avail. See, they cannot sent correct lenses because they claim rx is expired (even though this had NEVER been a problem in the prior 22yrs. i was with them, NOT ONCE!), and they cannot issue refund because i no longer have the card i used for the order. Just mail a check then you say? nope, against company policy! but, apparently stealing is not a issue!? crazy ethics in Utah eh? Nathan offered a solution that would have taken over 2 months! i returned wrong lenses and did not accept his idiotic solution.

Misleading website- dont give them your credit card until you read this.

First time user on the website here. Seemed simple and says just enter prescription on this side of box. Then it asks you to select "Yes" or No" to contacting you Doctor. Since I been buying from him for over 25 years I select "No". Then they ask for your cc number and complete purchase. After they take your money they send you an email saying they will contact your Doctor to verify your prescription. Why would they give you an option to say yes or no without warning they HAVE TO CONTACT HIM ANYWAY FOR THE PRESCRIPTION?? Because they want to hold your money up for 10 Days IN THERE ACCOUNT. AWFUL SCAM.

Rebate checks are a SCAM!!

Total Scam! I was supposed to get back a $30 rebate on my contacts. I sent the information in within the time given and waited for the rebate check to come in the mail. After a few months, I still did not receive it, so I called the company. The rude supervisor had the gall to say that even though I sent it in time according to the offer, that it was my problem that I had not sent it in even sooner! Totally disregarded the terms of their agreement! I will never use them again. Scam, scam, scam, scam!!!!

1800 contacts - Fake Rabate Check Review from Athens, Georgia

This is one of the most dishonest companies I have ever dealt with. They offer a so-called rebate as opposed to just crediting you right when you make your purchase. The problem is you wait and wait and wait and then wait some more for a "rebate" check that never comes. The dishonest part is every time you call them to inquire on the status after the 4-6 "processing window", a different rep gives another date 2 weeks out for when it's supposed to arrive. This is the third year in a row that this has happened with them. Totally not worth the wait and headache. Customer service reps are nice enough I suppose, however this rebate scam leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I will never use 1-800-contacts again, and will tell all the lens wearers I know to do the same. Horrible!

Lenses were unusable

I got my lenses for my right eye (which are Acuvue oasis for astigmatism as opposed to regular Acuvue oasis) and most of the lenses were folded or curled up in the package, making them pretty much impossible to put in my eye without it being irritated and painful. Normally I would just wait it out for a bit, but I would blink and these would fall out of my eye! 1 out of 5 lenses were able to be worn in my eye. At this point, I am very angry with this company and will be filing a complaint with them to try to get some of my money back, because this is absolutely unacceptable.

Review about Contacts Purchase from Forney, Texas

DO NOT BY FROM HERE!!! Don't use them unless you enjoy paying for over priced lies. I was scammed and conned into buying contacts that were twice as much as others. Plus was told 18ooc0ntact$ is an exclusive dealer or the only seller of a certain contact solution. I bought into it and paid without doing my research, unlike I usually do. Only to find for the price and availability of the contacts solution was offered everywhere at half the price. DO NOT BY FROM HERE!!!

How *** can you be? 1800contacts didn't stop making the contacts, Acuvue did.

You're a *** if you think companies should notify you every time they discontinue a product. Which other companies do that?

The company Mac cosmetics sometimes releases a discontinued page. It lets the customers know which products are going bye bye.

Lol but the user is foolish to think companies will

customized personalized emails every.single.time they discontinue something. Try other brands till you find your next "color enhancer Acuvue" or just stick to Acuvue products.
